Green cheese, please.

At Parkham we take our environmental responsibilities very seriously. As you’d expect, we make sure environmental legislation is strictly adhered to. We also communicate regularly with the Environment Agency to ensure our farm’s impact on the environment is as low as possible.

But that’s just the start.

We’ve invested in special heat recycling technology which has cut our fossil fuel consumption by 35%. We also recycle where possible and regularly check the efficiency of our production. This led to us installing a Reverse Osmosis and Ultra Filtration plant in 2001 to ensure that none of the by-products from our cheese making are wasted. We also revamped our cheese room in 2007, replacing all equipment with more energy-efficient products.

But what we’re really excited about is our application to build two wind turbines. They will generate enough electricity to power our entire farm and the local farms we work with too. It all goes towards our aim of making high quality cheese with the lowest carbon footprint possible. We think we’re well on the way.
