Parkham Farms is finalist for Dairy Farmer of the Year Oct 2011

Parkham Farms is delighted that director Peter Willes was selected as a finalist in this year's prestigious Farmers Weekly Awards for Dairy Farmer of the Year. The judges were particularly impressed with the outstanding technical and business performance of the farm, and the good cow health. Of Peter, they said: "At Parkham, he's proved big business does not mean low welfare – cow health is superb and costs of production have been reduced..."

Peter says: "It was a real honour to make it to the finals and show that our high yielding, productive cows are also very healthy. We take great care of them because, as my father used to say, if you look after the cows, they look after you. They are at the heart of our business.

"Like all farmers, we've had challenges over the past few years, but we're really pleased with the progress we've made in addressing them and improving the sustainability of the farm and cheese dairy. Reaching the finals in this competition is testament to the hard work of the whole team at Parkham Farms.”
